********* IMPORTANT NOTE, PLEASE READ *********

I am trying out doing commissions with a website called Artistree (for more info on it, check the Payment tab.)
Because of how it works, there will be a processing fee on the client's end added onto the base price asked! (This is not up to me, it is how the site is run.) What this means is you should keep in mind that your commission total will be more like this when paying for it:
If under $100:
Price I ask + 6.5% platform fee + $2.60
If over $100:
Price I ask + 6.5% platform fee
The prices shown on this page are base estimates without processing charges added because I can't account for every possible addition or variable in a quote. You are more than welcome to contact me and discuss details before putting in a formal request!

Hello! Here you can find most of the information you should need if you're interested in commissioning RainyJackalope for art!I specialize in SFW anthro, feral, and most creature-oriented work. My style is usually semi-toony, but I can be somewhat flexible and am trying to diversify my portfolio a little more.Check out this page for types, examples, and pricing!Click through the links at the top for my terms, as well as how to submit a commission request, where to reach me, and what my current queues look like!

Types and Examples

Here is a list of some of the types I have examples for! Each has a button for more info. Starting prices listed are for the most basic versions of each type. It increases with more detail, rendering, and character complexity.Sometimes I feel like doing smaller pieces only, so for that reason I have things divided into "tiers". What this means is when I open for commissions, I may sometimes say I only want to take on a couple from a specific group based on how complex and involved they are.
If, for example, I say I am open for 2 slots of Tier 1 types, it's because I only feel I have the time and energy for a couple of smaller pieces at that moment.
If you are confused at all, check the commissions form page and you can see what is available specifically. If you have something in mind that isn't covered by any of my examples, you can also reach out and I can give you a quote based on my pricing if it's something I am willing to do. (If it doesn't work for you, just let me know. Nobody is locked into anything until the invoice is sent and paid.)If you'd like to submit feedback for what else you'd like to see me offer, you can fill out an anonymous form below! It helps me out a lot to know what people think.

Tier 1

The simplest, most basic offerings I have that are not intended to take a lot of time.

Sketchy Headshots

Starting price: $26

A simple colored sketch of a character's head.

Tier 2

Things that take a moderate amount of time and effort, but usually don't have a high level of detail.

Commission Type 1

Starting price: $__

Tier 3

Anything that takes a lot of my attention and requires a lot of extra care and detail. These commissions will naturally take a lot more time than the others, but I will give updates whenever I think enough progress was made or enough time passed to warrant them.I may not open for these very frequently, as I want to ensure I am being fair to both my clients and myself. I frequently need to take breaks after larger pieces.

Info and Terms of Service

Will Draw

  • Furry/Anthro (this includes just about any type of anthro species! Scalie, avian, fuzzy, fluffy...)

  • Quad/Animal characters

  • Pokémon

  • My Little Pony

  • Blood and light injury

  • Stuff that includes my OC's/sonas, but only if we are friends, or it's just my characters with no one else's involved (I have to like and agree with the prompt of course)

Won't Draw

  • NSFW or anything suggestive. A character with a flirty expression and pose is fine, but they can't be heavily sexualized or have the focus be on their body

  • Nudity, even if non-sexual. I don't think it's bad, but I do not want to draw it for others

  • Humans/Humanoids (anything with a human-esque face)

  • Complicated mecha/robot (simpler robot characters and protogens are fine)

  • Extreme gore

If you aren't sure if your character or idea falls into those, you can always ask! I never mind answering polite inquiries =)

Specialties

Here's a list of things I think I either do particularly well with, enjoy the most, or have the most experience with (but do not hesitate if your idea isn't listed):

  • Bunny and jackalope characters

  • LGBTQIA+ pride themed artwork

  • All things fluffy

  • Fuzzy dragons

  • Avian characters, thanks to my partner

  • Deer/reindeer characters

  • My Little Pony because I spent several years drawing almost exclusively MLP art

  • Characters with paws

  • Characters with long blocky snouts

  • Characters with manes

  • Smarmy masc characters

Notes About Working With Me

  • Please have a completely SFW reference of any characters involved. I appreciate if it's more than just barely censored as well. If it's obviously very NSFW even with emojis/shapes slapped over it, I won't feel very comfortable working with it.

  • If you have a particular idea, please be as descriptive as possible and use visuals. Seriously, stick figures and collages are wonderful and help a lot!

  • Feels silly to even say but I've seen it come up in artist circles too often. If you take issue with what I charge or don't really like my art styles...simply do not buy from me! I try to have a range of options available for smaller budgets, but I want to be fair to myself and my time. I also prefer to do work for people that will be excited to have it.

  • Generally I work on my queue in order of who claimed a slot, but in the event I have multiple kinds of projects going, don't be surprised if I jump between them a bit! I will still prioritize the order of them, but to keep things fresh and interesting I may work on a few at a time to avoid burning out on a single piece (and/or I may be waiting to hear back about one before continuing it.) Larger, more time-consuming pieces may see smaller projects finished before them, but it's not for lack of working on it.

  • On a similar note, please respect that I still have the right in my free time to work on personal pieces even with things in queue! I will do my best not to ever neglect anything, but if you take issue with me posting a couple other things I do between my working hours, maybe reevaluate that mindset (but if you really can't stand that then don't buy.) I love having new artwork to post and I still draw in my personal time for fun.

  • Be polite and reasonably responsive and you will have my undying gratitude.

Terms of Service

In order to work with me and use my services, please respect the following:

  • You must be 18+ years old to purchase anything from me.

  • Payment is taken in full upfront, but if that makes you nervous at all, know that Artistree has your back if you ever have trouble getting art you buy there (not that you will with me! But I understand the anxiety.)

  • Art purchased is to be used for personal, non-commercial purposes only unless a formal agreement has been made otherwise. You cannot resell it, put it on products to sell, or use it for anything relating to crypto currencies or blockchain technology. If you ever see anyone breaking this rule, please contact me.

  • No art of mine, even when my services were purchased, is ever to be used to train AI of any kind. Anybody doing this does not have my consent and never will.

  • You must either own the characters you are purchasing art for, or know you have permission to buy art of them. Please let me know if it is a gift for someone and be sure they like gift art!

  • I will also draw fanart commissions involving characters in media as long as there isn't any trouble for people who do such work, and it must once again only be for personal use.

  • I will not make any content that is in any way hateful of any marginalized groups or people, or that promote things that go against my ideals.

  • I have every right to refuse a commission request for any reason before it is invoiced, and I also have every right to refund and discontinue a commission if I feel it is for the best.

  • I reserve the right to use all commission work in portfolios and as examples, as well as the right to upload them to my social media and websites when completed. The characters involved will never be claimed as my own (unless they actually are mine) and the art will never be used commercially again outside of self-promotion. If a piece is a surprise or gift, I will not post it until it is delivered to the recipient. If a piece is wanted to remain private for any reason, this must be discussed in the initial inquiry and may require an extra fee.

  • In most cases except for icons/avatars, your piece will have my watermark on it. I try to make it fairly visible and hard to remove for my public posts because of how rampant art theft and AI training is. I may provide the client a version with a slightly less bold one, but it will still be there. Do not remove it.

  • You may share any art you have bought as you please, as long as the watermark is not removed and the artist is credited. A link back/mention of my twitter @, other socials, or this site works just fine.

  • You can use art I make for you for avatars and decorations on your personal sites and profiles. Crediting is appreciated, and of course do not claim it as made by you or anyone else.

  • Please do not make major edits to the art and do not pay anybody to make any edits to it without talking to me first. Definitely do not trace it, turn it into a base, or in any way copy it to resell/redistribute.

Payment

I take my commissions through Artistree!Artistree allows you to use PayPal or a credit card, and you do not need an account to do anything. Please be sure to use an email you check often to ensure you see any WIPs and questions I might send!Hopefully you saw on the home page that it puts the processing fees on the clients instead of the artists. I keep this in mind when pricing myself, but do be ready for the actual invoice to be at least 4 extra dollars for small commissions and more for larger ones. The total you can likely expect is the commission price + 6.5%. There's another $2.60 that gets added for commissions less than $100.
If you want to get an idea of your true total ahead of time, use this calculator and add that to the price (or any regular calculator works of course.)
The reason I'm using a website to do this is because it keeps things organized and neat for me, and I enjoy having all my commissions in one place.I also think their goals and motivations are pretty nice, and am personally happy to try to support them instead of relying directly on PayPal all the time. If all goes well I may stick with them from here on out!ONE MORE NOTE: When you get emails from them, clicking the link might trigger uBlock Origin. This is because the website uses a service from Amazon to send automatic emails that trips one of uBlock's filters. Please do not be alarmed. They do not collect or sell any user data. The tracker can only tell if the link has been clicked. That's all.
(This was explained to me directly from a staff member, but feel free to check the site's privacy policy if it helps you feel more secure!)

Tipping

Tipping is never expected or in any way mandatory! But if it is something you would like to do, there will be an option through Artistree when the commission is marked complete by you, or you can use my Ko-fi!I also thought it would be fun to make a Throne (it's a gifting site where people can send you things off your wishlist without either of you losing privacy and disclosing your addresses.)I appreciate your support regardless though! Please do not feel bad for only paying what is owed. I price my art the way I do for a reason ❤

Refund Policy

For the most part, I aim not to have to do refunds by being reasonably timely, responsive, and willing to work out problems. I ask that clients only go through with a purchase with me if they know for a fact they have the expendable income to safely do so.Once an invoice has been paid, unless you are on a queue behind others, I may start concepting very soon after. Because of this, full refunds usually are not doable in a way that would be fair to my efforts. However, if something comes up and a client has unforeseen circumstances or a change of heart, I'm willing to talk it over and possibly refund some of the cost depending on what stage the work has gotten to. If I haven't started at all, I'll refund the invoice completely. If something comes up on my end and I am suddenly unable to complete the commission, I will communicate this and refund it.Please talk to me about any issues before resorting to chargebacks or contacting support! I am more than willing to try to work something out.

Deadlines

I do not work with extreme deadlines, even for extra fees. The pressure is a lot of stress on me and I want to keep this as relaxed as I can while fulfilling my side of things.Having a deadline in mind is okay, but it has to be at least a month out from the time a commission from Tier 1 or Tier 2 is accepted. Make me aware of it, and be sure to look out for progress and updates from me and respond as soon as you can so we can ensure it gets done in time. For Tier 3 commission types, please allow at least 3 full months from the time of acceptance. It is entirely likely that in most cases that would be more than enough time for me, but just to make sure I allow for self-care when needed and possible circumstances like falling ill or struggling with art, I'd rather have plenty of time than barely enough.

Contact

To order a commission, please submit a request here when I'm open:

Be sure to keep an eye on the email you use.
If it goes unpaid for several days or more than a week after being approved without any further contact, it will be closed and given to someone else.
Once you have been accepted, any questions or discussion about the commission should be handled through Artistree and the link you receive. They have an onsite messaging system, and it is important that we use it so that all of it is in one place. Keeps things tidy and really helps both of us.

If you have questions before submitting a form, please do feel free to reach out to me in any of the following places:

Email: [email protected]
This is strictly a business email. It is your best bet for contacting me. I highly encourage using it over anything else if you have a question, with the only exception being folks that already have my Discord (I do not give it out otherwise.)

Tumblr: RainyJackalope
Be sure to use the messaging feature and not the ask box! You can use asks for general questions you're okay with me posting, however.

If you either can't reach me on those for any reason, you can also reach me in the following places:

Toyhouse: RainyJackalopeFur Affinity: RainyJackalopeI don't check these all that often, but usually will a few times a week.

Other People to Check Out

I love recommending other artists to folks and bringing them new attention whenever possible, so here's a little alphabetically ordered list of friends and acquaintances of mine and their commission information! Please take a look!Nobody listed here asked to be linked or in any way paid for an ad. They are all pulled from my lists of mutuals on other sites or are folks I or people I know have had particularly lovely commission experiences with. Please do not ask to be added, but do tell me if you would like to be removed for any reason. If we are good friends and you do art but aren't listed, it's nothing personal at all! I just may not have been able to find your commission information or didn't know you took them. I'll update this whenever I can =>

Sketchy Headshots

Base price: $26
Generally it will not increase per character for any reason unless your character's head is that extremely complex somehow.
The outline will be kind of rough and not totally cleaned up because it is just a sketch I fill with color. Please do not expect smooth lineart. These are meant to be somewhat experimental and loose. Please either let me know an expression you prefer, or a little bit about their personality and the freedom to choose based on it.Like all my art I will draw anthros, animals, and creatures only.Because this particular style is so simplified and cheap, I do not send WIPs for it. It is meant to be able to be finished in one sitting, so if that does not work for you I recommend one of my other offerings when available where I usually at least send a sketch. (I will still fix mistakes like missing markings!)Background will likely be some textures or paint splatter effects. If you have a preference for the background's color scheme you can let me know. Otherwise I just pick what I like.Heads are never shaded. They will be flat colored.
